**  Daughter number 2 (or should that be number 1?!) has come down with Abbie’s dreaded bug now.
Kind Abbie for sharing with her sister!

**  With 2 girls feeling very poorly and feverish we had a day on the couch watching back to back movies…

**  While the rain fell and mirrored how we were feeling…

**  So stuck on the couch (with an Abbie not letting me go for dear life) what’s a girl to do but learn to crochet…

**  Snuggled under my new lounge quilt I decided to make myself a new hat…

Learning to crochet...

**  And by late afternoon, about the second Mr Flutter walked through the door, it was finished…

And the result...

**  Now that is a “real” photo if ever I saw one. Me with no make up, a huge break out, my “trackies” (gym gear/ blob clothes), and huge bags under my eyes from the last 4 very sleep disturbed nights. Lets just focus on the hat shall we!

**  I haven’t even brushed my hair today but the good thing about modelling a hat is that doesn’t really matter 😉

**  Pretty good progress in a day though considering I just bought the hook & yarn yesterday, then youtubed some “learn to crochet” videos last night.

**  I needed something to do in front of the tv though. I don’t sit still very easily because I’m not used to watching tv. But winter has arrived and my stop button seems to have been pushed in general.
So I’d say more “by hand” projects will be appearing.

**  I (loosely) used a pattern from here…

**  Which is an awesome magazine I bought about a year ago knowing that I wanted to one day learn to crochet. There were no quilt magazines that inspired me so I bought this crochet mag instead – it was way too inspiring to leave there.

**  I say that I loosely followed the pattern because the pattern was actually for a child’s lion hat.
Lion as in the animal.
As in with ears, a mane, and a face!
So yes, I deviated and added a stripe & flower instead LOL…

**  I’ll have to buy some more wool if I want to make anything else though because I’ve used the small amount I had.

**  I did have a little ray of sunshine in my day. Look what turned up in the mail…

Today's mail...

** 3 out of the 4 books I recently splurged on. I haven’t bought books for probably 18 months, so I decided to have a bit of a spend in the recent book depository sale…

**  Very strangely though – I ordered these all in the same purchase, yet 2 arrived today individually by standard mail, 1 arrived today by parcel post & 1 is yet to arrive. Weird. The book depository is the only shop I know to parcel them all individually. What a lot of packing materials used!

**  I hope the girls are feeling better tomorrow!

**  Apart from the fact I hate to see them sick it’s also getting to the stage that I have things I really need to get done….

**  Preferably without a toddler in my arms not wanting to let me go and whinging continually in my ear…

  1. I’m in awe of your hat! I can’t believe you learned to crochet and then not only made a hat but modified a pattern in that short of a time.

I hope your babies feel better soon. We’ve got sniffly noses and upset tummies around here as well. It’s no fun for the whole house.

  2. Ah you deviated from the pattern, what a surprise! I hope the little one feels good again real soon. And stop being so clever, crocheting like an expert! Beautiful colour…

  3. Impossible to see no make up and uncombed hair. You look lovely in your new hat. Must get out the crochet hooks. Will not do hat as face too square – look like Russian peasant – but will try flowers and possibly an easy garment or throw.

  4. As usual, I am in awe of your general cleverness! If you haven’t come across her already, be sure to check out this blog: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/. Chock-a-block with hooky goodness *bliss* (in between all the other photos and general stories!)

Hugs for both of your girls and YOU! Hope the house will be germ-free soon. xx

  5. Oh dear feeling ill is never good! Wow finished up in a day!
I know what you mean about book depo…mind you maybe it’s cheaper for them to go separately as it is free shipping? =D

  6. Lets hope that everyone is back to feeling in tip top shape in the flutter house very soon.

Love that hat. But I love the photo of you even more ! Keep it real babe!

  7. I hope ya’ll are better soon! I’m really trying not to be a hater – I can’t believe you learned to crochet and produced something awesome in ONE day! Amazing!

    Francine
