Haha ok, so this is a totally cheeky post… I’ve never seen it done before, but I guess that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been done…. And if not then there’s always a first time right?….
Anyway straight to the point…
So I am in the process of making myself another scrappy log cabin quilt for my queen sized bed like this one I made last year…
Only this time I am making it bright, happy (and a little bit pink) in colour… in other words it will be the “hers” version, since last time had to be the “his” colours!!
I will be making it quilt-as-you-go, just as I did the first time, only this time I am making the pieced blocks first & then I will quilt them each onto the batting after they are made… It will definitely be a lot quicker that way!
That means that I need at least another 42 15 inch blocks… eek!
I have already asked my bee friends from Bits & Pieces bee to help me. They made me 10 very cool blocks for my month in January…
Can you spot my 3 helpers LOL… |
And because they did such a great job they got the same brief again for this month. So far I’ve seen Mona’s blocks on Flickr…
They crack me up!! Bras & women… I guess there will be something for Neil in the quilt after all LOL…
So by the time I receive all of those that will give me 20…
Nearly half way there…
I would dearly LOVE to get this quilt finished soon – But call me lazy (maybe pressed for time?) or whatever- I just can’t see myself finishing another 22 blocks anytime soon…
…So I’ve had a bit of a cheeky ingenious idea…
How cool would it be to have a quilt made by my bee friends & some of my blog friends?
I am thinking that I could embroider each person’s name on their block, so that I would forever know where in the world the special blocks came from…
And how many different fabrics would that result in! That would be quite something in itself!!
I’m just in LOVE with the idea of having something that special!!
So… would anybody be interested in making a scrappy log cabin block for my quilt for me using bright scraps out of their stash? Anyone? Someone? Please… someone humour me 🙂 LOL…
In return I would be very happy to make a block for you towards something you are making, or send you some scraps to refill your used fabric… I want to be able to give back to you too!
If you’re not a quilter or have never made a log cabin block before then don’t fear – I will release a tutorial this week on how to make one and all the specs e.g. size etc…. They are soooo easy! Very quick! And very fun!
Anyway, just a thought… I’d so, SO love your help with my lazy ingenious plan…
Edited to add: Sorry just to give you an idea of timeframe… I am hoping to have all 42 blocks by the end of October so that I can start quilting and have it finished around my birthday in November. So if you can’t fit it in until next month, or October but still want to make one then that would be absolutely great!
I’ll make you one. It would be a pleasure and I don’t want anything back in return. You give back in friendship every day. But I won’t get a chance to make it until September probably. Is that okay?
Hi
Just because you have the cheek and because you are a Kiwi I’ll make you a block.
Send me details & I’ll get right onto it.
Cheers

I only found your blog last night and loved it so much I immediately added it to my google reader. :o)
I would love to make a block for you and also don’t need anything in return. I reckon, if I use up some of my stash, I’ll get to buy more! :oD
Count me in. I’ll do it for nothing because you’re so sweet and give to me all the time. I’ve never made a log cabin block before so that tutorial better be detailed!
I’ll make you a block for sure.
A block coming your way !!!!
I would love to have a go…I can’t promise it will be perfect, but it will be made with love just for you 🙂
x
You cheeky thing! But what a great idea, that will make it such a special quilt…
Ok, ok, I’ll give it a go – but having never quilted I’m making no promises as to the quality….
Maybe put it somewhere inconspicuous!!
Xxx
I’d love to make a block! It would be my thanks for the great tutorials you put up here (the zipper pouch is my very next project).
I’d love to make you a block! I really enjoy reading your blog and I really love making wonky log cabin blocks – sounds like a great fun idea!
Cheeky ? Yes indeed! But why not..if you are short I will give it a go, I am feeling brave!
As you know, my Mum quilts but I’ve actually never tried! So this could be a good incentive to give it a go… I look forward to your tutorial 😉
I would love to make you a block, but I’m going to be cheeky back (unlike all the other generous souls) and ask if you would make me a couple of 6.5″ (6″ finished) wonky teacups in return — tute on my blog. I have about 100 blocks to make, so I’d love to have a few made by friends.
Ok, so I’ve just checked out your tutorial and it looks easy enough. As long as I have suitable fabrics in my (mini) stash, I’d be happy to make you a block…
Count me in too, cheeky but brilliant. I don’t need anything in return either.
OK you cheeky thing you, add me to the “I’ll make one for you” list!
And, sure, I’ll take some scraps in return. That would be fun!
😀
How many block do you have now? I’d love to have a go at making one for you if you’re still short 🙂
