You may have noticed it’s been a little quiet around these parts this week…
That’s because last week I had my head down writing patterns before jet setting off for a much needed few days away.

Last week my youngest brother and I both had our birthdays a few days apart. As a special treat I flew up to spend a couple of days with him all.by.myself.

I don’t think that we have ever had the opportunity to spend a little time just by ourselves before, since I have come as a packaged deal for the last 12 years. So it really was great to have him show me the city he has called home for the last 3 years.
Mum and Dad kindly had my girls for me so I could make the escape and I am so grateful for it!
What a great birthday present!!

We shopped, we brunched, we napped, he showed me the sights of Auckland, we visited some family, we ate dinner out,
then we went and repeated the exercise all over again the next day.

I flew home late Saturday night to enjoy a very lazy Sunday with my parents and kids for my actual birthday.
The only way it could have been better was if Mr Flutter was home too, but alas he is away at the moment.
Thems the brakes I guess…
Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better, more relaxing few days.

Today was back into the usual routine with a bang, with a day of housework and catching up on washing.
Holidays really do create lots of work don’t they. But I wouldn’t change it for the world!

PS, my pattern testers have been very busy this week (unlike me) so keep your eyes peeled for a pattern release tomorrow…

  1. Happy birthday, Kat. And the same to your wee brother too! 🙂

Can’t wait to see the new pattern – I might even get around to cashing in my winning ticket from your giveaway all those weeks! *blush*

  2. I knew that had to be your brother as soon as I scrolled onto it! I’m glad you had the chance for such a wonderful dual birthday celebration. 🙂

  3. Hahahahaha I was looking at the first photo of a person (not knowing who it was) thinking Wow Kat looks really similar to her husband! Then you said it’s your brother and I was like ohhhh, makes sense now. Happy Birthday!
